Things. There's so many good ones. Clothes, buildings, icons, interfaces, fantasy maps and fantastical fantasy weaponry. All of them able to be captured by a pencil to a page, or a stylus to a screen. I like to draw the extraordinary and design extraordinarily.
Drawing and Sketching
This website isn't an art blog (nor is it very well equipped to evolve into one), however the page IS called "Drawing and Design", so I will gladly take a bit of time to show off some of my doodles and paintings. Here's a small sample of some random, fairly recent pieces I like. Plenty more are available on my Instagram. I'll have to get one of those art blogs sometime, it's nice being able to upload at full resolution at the aspect ratio thatI like.
Twitch Livestream Graphics
2021
Wanting to get into Twitch streaming, I designed a basic graphics package with a colorful sci-fi feel, with the background based on the bridge of the Enterprise D. I used Adobe Illustrator to do the images, Adobe After Effects to animate a custom popup, Streamlabs plugins to display chat and alerts, and OBS to put it all together with customizable pre-stream text, and transitions and animations between everything. The best way to see it is in motion, and since I rarely go live on Twitch, I think a sample YouTube video will be a little more conveinent for you. I've got more sketches and plenty of room in this package for additional graphics later, if I decide to further persue streaming and have need for more.
The starfield, notification sound, and the video game Minecraft were all made by other people.
City of Bellevue's Lake to Lake Trail
2019-2020
I did design work for the City's trail project. Most of this work was just done to present our other work (see Geography, Planning, Data page for details, and for full copies of the presentations), but a few designs were for elements of the trail itself. Roughly in order of apperance and design date, I created: diagrams relaying information about the Atlanta Beltline trail, a logo concept for the Lake to Lake trail, the overall powerpoint design for our Winter quarter presentation, icons used in said presentation (two sampled here), and illustrations - the first depicted here shows a concept for a "Meditative Gazebo", the second, a slightly more abstract imagining of the trail.
Horrible Art Gala
2019 & 2020
I've done logo design and poster work for the Horrible Art Gala, a small charity event where a bunch of people get together and celebrate the horrid and the artistic. Walking the line between the two is a difficult task, as you might be able to see from my work. I've also done art for the gala itself, but, well...it was horrible. Devoid of the context of the gala, none of it is much worth writing home about.
This website!
2019
The layout, iconography, and backgrounds for this website have all been created by hand, by me. Well, by hand on a computer. But still my hand.
SARP Merchandise
2018
I made several designs for shirts, patches, buttons, and business cards as part of the business team for the Society of Advanced Rocket Propulsion. None of them went into production, but I remain proud of the work. Each constellation tangentially relates to its respective subteam, and all come together into one starfield for the team patch. Looking back, I might have chosen a few different constellations, but these still look pretty cool.
I also designed the look for our sponsorship packet, which goes out to companies interested in donating to the team. You can click the sample to the left to access the document. And go donate to the current SARP team, if you find my nice colors convincing.
Crab Claw Creative
2018
Created the logo for Crab Claw Creative, a team that I am part of. More info on the "teams" page. Also, here's a picture of a cool as hell real-life crab claw slate!
